Journaling is a scientifically proven way to increase self-confidence and optimism and reduce anxiety. If children start this as early as possible, they develop positive daily habits that they will benefit from in the long run. This Reflection Book promotes the development of ten important broad skills that increase children's emotional intelligence. Over ten weeks of journaling, children will learn to:
- get to know themselves better
- understand their feelings
- become positive thinkers
- develop a growth mindset
- learn from mistakes
- be resilient
- increase their self-confidence
- understand and practice mindfulness
- promote kindness and empathy
- accept themselves as they are.
Strong in your shoes
The "Strong in your shoes" program aims to strengthen children's emotional resilience and self-confidence. It is designed to help children feel happier, deal with stress better, and develop positive relationships. These factors together ensure that children not only feel better but also perform better at school.
The "Strong in your shoes" editions are aimed at primary school children and can be used effectively both at school and at home.
Schools can excellently integrate the program, which focuses on developing broad skills, into their curriculum. These skills are cross-curricular, but can also be part of lessons on social-emotional skills and/or citizenship education.
The "Strong in your shoes" program includes the Reflection Book. In the Reflection Book, children work on important skills for 10 weeks, with one skill being addressed each week. Completing the reflection book takes about 5 to 10 minutes per day. The daily exercises and reflections encourage children to master the skills and reflect on their feelings and behavior. The reflection book is also available as a school set specifically for schools to start working with all students immediately.
In addition to the Reflection Book, Feeling Cards have also been developed to provide support. The Feeling Cards help children identify, understand, verbalize, and regulate the many feelings they may experience every day. This strengthens their resilience and self-confidence. The Feeling Cards also ultimately help children more easily identify their feelings, which they can then write about in the Reflection Book.
Conversation Cards have also been developed within the "Strong in your shoes" program. The Conversation Cards can be used in various ways to promote children's social and emotional development. Start the day or lesson with a card as a 'check-in' or draw a card as a starting point for a conversation about a relevant topic such as emotions, challenges, or positive experiences. This can be done in pairs or in groups, in one-on-one sessions with a child, or during parent-child conversations. You can also choose a card and have students write down their thoughts and feelings about it in their Reflection Book.
Use the Reflection Book in combination with the cards and together build self-confidence, self-knowledge, and the best performance!
