The Castrato

Summary:

Passion, music and lust in the Italian Renaissance Italy, 1698. Angelo wakes up in a nightmare. As the poor son of a tanner, he has been chosen to receive vocal training at the Florence Conservatory, but what he didn't know was that he would be castrated for it. His voice will always retain its beautiful sound, but he will never have children or be allowed to marry. In the four years that follow, Angelo grows into a young man with needs like any other. He leads a privileged life as one of the best singers at the conservatory. And when he performs for the distinguished Prince De' Medici, the gates to a grand musical career are wide open. But is that the life he chooses for himself? And will he ever be able to love again if he surrenders to the whims of the prince?
