Cooperative immersive game Uniekies (3D)

Help, the water playground is drying up! The pump is broken and the mole is digging molehills that block the water. Together you can make the water flow again, but only if you cleverly use each other's unique strengths. Can you save the playground so you can play in the mud again?

The Uniekies

In this game, you will become the Uniekies. The Uniekies all have something they can't do and they all have a superpower. All Uniekies have different characteristics. By cleverly using each other's unique characteristics, you can save the playground and make the water flow!

With this cooperative game, children learn in a playful way that everyone has their limitations and their strengths. They experience that they can overcome limitations by dealing with them cleverly and combining their strengths.

Positive mindset about limitations

The game contributes to a positive perception of children about limitations.

Players also become aware of what it's like to play together with a limitation.

Uniekies was made possible by the Dutch Foundation for the Disabled Child and was developed in collaboration with Earth Games, the Speeltuinbende and Panton. Game authors: Anne Mijke van Harten from Earth Games and Ilse van der Put.

Uniekies is based on a graduation research by Janine Innemee for TU Delft on positively changing children's mindset about children with disabilities.

During the development of the game, children with and without disabilities and of different ages helped with testing and advice.

Uniekies is playable for everyone from 7 years old. With a simpler gameplay from 5 years old. The game has a tangible game board, QR codes with which you can have the game story read aloud, a large game pawn and assignments that everyone can participate in. You can also listen to the sounds of the water playground with sound coins. So much to discover! Uniekies is also well playable for children and young people with a visual impairment.
